Quarantine Diaries- Carolyne Beck, GM at Elemental Herbology

As we approach the early May bank holiday still in UK lockdown, we're catching up with Elemental Herbology General Manager, Carolyne Beck, to hear how she is remaining positive and adapting her daily routine.

What's your name?

Carolyne Beck

Where do you live?

Chiswick, London

What's your job role?

General Manager at Elemental Herbology

How has quarantine affected your work?

We are a spa brand which means most of our core business is closed. The team are all working to push our website sales, and I have been doing some videos for our IGTV to push that, as well as managing other areas of the business where we don’t have staff in place. As well as this, I am keeping the connection to our team, owners and international businesses by e mail, calls and zoom meetings up and running so we don’t lose focus. This is all keeping me busy and happy!

How has quarantine affected your daily routine?

I have actually created a new daily routine that I have been working to, it’s different in timing to my usual life one but I’m finding it effective in getting things done and working/living through this testing time.

What’s the biggest challenge you have faced?

The length of time we’ve been in quarantine, I am ready to get back to normality now. This and home schooling a teenager while trying to manage his time on screens and gaming.

What are you doing to keep yourself feeling positive?

The new routine I have created involves meditation, morning and night, online HIIT and yoga classes, amazing smoothies, long riverside walks with music and the odd zoom here and there (with a glass or two of wine!)

What are you missing the most about normal life?

I think the same as everyone else, my family, friends and work colleagues. And just having freedom.

What is one positive that has come out of the quarantine?

We don’t need to be busy to be happy! I think many people have ‘woken up’ and realised what is truly important.

What is the first thing you will do once normal life resumes?

Have a birthday party!
