How-to: At Home Manicure
Missing the salon? We're here to help! We've asked Emma, owner of The Nail & Beauty Nerd in Harrogate, to share her step-by-step guide to achieving the perfect at-home manicure.
1. File the nails
Tidy the nails to your desired shape and length. Here, Emma has gone for a neat square shape.
2. Apply Water Soothe Oil
Apply one drop of Water Soothe Facial Oil onto the nail bed and massage well into the cuticle. Rich in vitamin E and C, the oil will help to moisturise the nail and prevent splitting or flaking.
3. Soak the nails
Soak your nails in warm water for five minutes. This will help to soften the cuticles, making them easier to remove in the next step.
4. Tidy the cuticles
Use a round-edged cuticle tool to gently push any dead skin from the surface of your nail back towards the base of the nail, being sure to use light pressure.
Remove any skin build up from the base of the nail, leaving them neat and tidy.
If the dead skin is difficult to remove, you can use a little more Water Soothe Oil to soften it up.
5. Massage with Hand Nutrition
Take an almond-sized amount of Hand Nutrition Hand Cream and massage well into the hands.
Enriched with apricot oil and keratin, this nourishing cream leaves hand and nails soft and restored.
6. Polish
Apply your favourite polish, beginning with a base coat to prevent staining, and finishing with a top coat for a long-lasting, glossy manicure.
Don't overload your brush, and use long, fluid sweeps in an upward motion to achieve a professional finish.
7. Say hello to perfect nails
You're done!
Leave your polish to dry for at least two hours to prevent any smudges.
Use the time to sit back, relax, and enjoy some much-needed you time.
