We all know in today's world, a good night's sleep can be hard to come by. We've teamed up with self-heating eye mask company, Spacemasks, to bring you our top tips for a perfect sleep routine.
1. Evening rituals
There's a lot that can be said for a good evening ritual. Sometimes referred to as 'sleep hygiene', it's all about forming habits that are necessary to have good sleep quality and full daytime alertness. It's different for everybody; some find that light exercise or yoga before bed can be beneficial, others prefer a soothing bath (try our Water Soothe Bath & Body Oil). Whatever your preference, we find that a calming mug of chamomile tea is never a bad idea.
2. Limit phone time before bed
It's well known that the blue light emitted from our phones can stimulate the brain and keep us awake, but did you know it also has a lasting effect after you've drifted off? Those who spend time on their phones before bed often have restless, low quality sleep, meaning a good 8 hours may feel more like 4. We recommend switching off your devices at least an hour before bed- most phones have a 'bedtime' setting, making it easy to control your screen time.
3. Create your sanctuary
Creating a calm, peaceful sleeping environment is fundamental to getting a good night's sleep- there's nothing less relaxing than trying to switch off in a cluttered bedroom! Ensure your floor is cleared, your bed is comfortable, and take small steps to create a calm environment, such as dimming the lights and removing any distractions.
4. The power of aromatherapy
