Elemental Herbology’s muscle melt was the first balm I tried that uses capsaicin and ginger. I loved it immediately because it induces a slow warmth compared with balms that use methyl salicylate or menthol. The latter two ingredients just irritate my skin. From my completely non-scientific perspective, I feel those ingredients just serve to distract from muscle aches because they just irritate the dermis. I’ve tried three other balms containing capsaicin and ginger from different brands but they smelled so horrible (like burned rubber) and were so harsh. I think their formulations were just too heavy with active ingredients. This particular balm has the formulation down pat. Good consistency for massage and absorbed in a minute.
