How to be 'In Your Element'

Feeling a little flat and fatigued? Follow our Five Element Exercises to help you restore your balance and focus.

During stressful or unprecedented times, our elements can become out of balance, leading to feelings of fatigue, anxiety and negative thoughts. Here's five simple steps & exercises based on Traditional Chinese Medicine to increase energy levels to reduce stress, encourage positivity and restore equilibrium.

1. WOOD: THE GROUNDING EXERCISE

This exercise relaxes the lower and upper back which, in turn, opens the stomach meridian or energy channel. The simplest way to do this is to lie on the floor and place your legs on a chair. Place hands on your head or next to your body and relax for 5 minutes.

2. FIRE: FOCUS ON YOUR BREATH

Alternate nostril breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system and reduces blood pressure while also increasing respiratory strength and endurance. Simply cover alternate nostrils with your thumb and ring finger while taking deep, slow breaths. Try to do this for around 5 minutes.
- Breathe in with right nostril (cover left)
- Breathe out with left nostril (cover right)
- Breathe in with left nostril (cover right)
- Breathe out with right nostril (cover left)

3. EARTH: THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Even during these difficult times, it's still important to go outside for 10 - 15 mins to get some fresh air to help you feel more alert. We suggest a brisk walk, a run, or even a bike ride.

4. METAL: GIVE YOURSELF A MASSAGE

Self-care is essential. Use your chosen Five Element Bath & Body Oil in a massage to release tension, de-stress and encourage positivity.

5. WATER: INCREASE YOUR QI (CHI)

By constantly looking down we lower our energy flow which leaves us feeling lethargic. Keep your chin raised to open your heart chakra and increase your energy flow. This also improves your posture.

We hope you're feeling a little more centered.
